NaturalShrimp Inc (OTCMKTS:SHMP) has been on a tear over the last week – gaining 140% in share price over that time – on the catalyst of inching ever close to the commercialization of its indoor shrimp, fish, lobster and mollusk farming method. The step forward here was the receipt of a joint patent on farming the above aquatic creatures in their Vibrio Supression Tech System, which can mimic aquatic environments and protect against harmful diseases. The company is licensing out this tech for salmon and Barramundi species.
“What we are bringing to not only the U.S., but internationally, is a safe way to grow shrimp that solves these major environmental problems. Ours is a disruptive revolution in the growing and harvesting of this vital seafood,” said Bill G. Williams, Chairman and CEO of SHMP.
NaturalShrimp Inc (OTCMKTS:SHMP) bills itself as a global shrimp farming company that is developing a technology to produce fresh, gourmet-grade shrimp reliably and economically in an indoor, re-circulating, saltwater facility.
Its eco-friendly, bio-secure design does not rely on ocean water, but rather recreates the natural ocean environment allowing for high-density production which can be replicated anywhere in the world.
The company was founded in 2001 and is based in Dallas, Texas.
According to the release, “NaturalShrimp, Inc. (OTCQB: SHMP) is a publicly traded agro-technology company headquartered in Dallas, Texas with production facilities located near San Antonio in LaCoste, Texas. The Company has developed the first commercially viable system for growing shrimp indoors using patented technology that produce fresh, never-frozen, naturally grown shrimp without the use of antibiotics or toxic chemicals. NaturalShrimp systems are self-contained, saltwater production facilities that can be located anywhere in the world to produce gourmet-grade Pacific White Shrimp.”

According to the company, SHMP’s recent press outlines the thesis for why indoor farming is sustainable and more environmentally friendly: shrimp farms also suffer with pathogen problems, as major outbreaks of disease spread as birds consume diseased shrimp and spread the pathogens miles away. These farms have had a devastating effect on trees, which have long served as buffers from storms, destabilizing entire coastal zones.
“Our initial focus is bringing shrimp to market by replicating our indoor technology in regional production centers outside New York, City, Chicago and Las Vegas. But it is very important for our investors to know the broad implications of the patent we received,” said Bill G. Williams, CEO.
“Consumers are now living a healthier lifestyle by eating fresh, chemically free products. The use of this technology as a water treatment delivers on this trend and acts as an antioxidant, increasing the overall health benefits,” said Peter Letizia, CEO of F&T Water Solutions.
NaturalShrimp Inc (OTCMKTS:SHMP) has a $20M market cap and a float of 136M with 268.53M total shares out. The company is flying high but there may not be enough meat on the bone to sustain this run before selling pressure returns.
